About Me
My journey towards compost began about 10 years ago when I started to have allergic reactions to many foods. My gut microbiome was out of balance. At the time, I learned everything that I could about eating a healthy diet for my gut. Then, I read Teaming with Microbes and everything suddenly made sense. It wasn't just my gut microbiome that was out of whack, it was our whole conventional agricultural system!
In 2022, I started my soil food web journey through Dr. Elaine Ingham's Soil Food Web (SFW) School. I am now a certified SFW lab technician, who can identify and quantify the microbes in your soil/compost.
For the past two summers, I have been practicing the SFW hot composting method with other soil nerds and enthusiasts at Compost Club, hosted at Highfield Regenerative Farm. Whenever possible, I like to work with my fellow soil food web colleagues and bring their expertise and knowledge to the workshops. Like a mycelial network, we are now seeing it spread to other communities and schools around Calgary.
My dream is for hot composting to be common knowledge and practice in all our backyards and communities. We all need access to nutrient-dense food. Let's share our knowledge and empower each other on this journey toward wholeness.
Making compost is a way to heal the land, ourselves, and the planet!
